Extensive research efforts are directed towards reducing the environmental impact of vehicles and transportation systems. The country’s focus is on developing cleaner technologies, including electric propulsion, biofuels, and autonomous vehicles, which play a crucial role in the fight against climate change and the transition to a low-carbon economy. • Develop/implement software to optimize production times and material distribution.

• Design develop and test new prototypes of vehicles that use eco-friendly fuels.
• Redesign processes to reduce costs of design, construction, and testing of pre-production models.
• Develop/implement software to improve digital car dealerships to exhibit vehicles and buying processes.
• Improve the power efficiency of hybrid and electric cars.
• Develop/improve the manufacturer’s ecosystem that connects cars with other potential services.
• Test integrating recyclable materials without sacrificing the technical properties of the replaced materials.
• Optimization of traffic flow using real-time data and predictive analytics.
• Studies about hyperloop and high-speed rail to revolutionize long-distance transportation.
• Developing new technologies and materials that minimize noise and vibrations.

Ontario Vehicle Innovation Network (OVIN)

Administered by the Ontario Centre of Innovation (OCI), the program builds upon Ontario’s position as a world-leading automotive manufacturing and supports the development and demonstration of automotive technologies and mobility solutions. OVIN capitalizes on the economic potential of advanced automotive technologies and smart mobility solutions such as connected and autonomous vehicles (C/Avs), and electric and low-carbon vehicle technologies, while enabling the province’s transportation and infrastructure networks to plan for and adapt to this evolution.
